Meet The Editors: Andrew Carpenter
Meet The Editors: Andrew Carpenter
Andrew Carpenter is a hugely accomplished video editor at Sky Production Services (SPS) with nearly 25 years’ experience. Despite having little knowledge or experience of the fast-paced world of sports editing, Andrew threw himself into the genre and now his core focus is mainly on Sport, covering showstopping projects such as Premier League football, Formula One racing, the Cricket World Cup, as well as Darts and Pool, and even becoming a Fulham F.C. fan along the way.
On the verge of celebrating his 20-year anniversary at SPS, he has specialised in online and offlining, and worked across various other areas of editing (effects and audio). 2019’s AVA-winning (department award) Premier League opener and last year’s ‘The Race To Perfection’ standout as two of Andrew’s most notable recent pieces of work, with the latter a particular highlight. Originally scheduled to be completed in 3 months, the F1 docuseries, charting 70 years of the sport and its’ amazing feats, drivers, and engineers, started just as the first lockdown kicked in. ‘The Race To Perfection’ went on to become one of the first SPS projects to be successfully produced using a combination of on-site and remote workflows, and Andrew was responsible for the offline editing.
Beginning his career as an Edit Assistant in a post-production house in Soho, Andrew landed the role of Trainee Editor in 1998 and started juggling long 12-hour shifts and cutting his friends’ showreels on the side. In 2001, he joined Sky Production Services and his versatility and can-do attitude saw him rapidly picking up a hugely diverse scope of work across Sports, Movies and Promos. Now, Andrew is a beacon of Avid Media Composer & After Effects knowledge and one of SPS’ most highly skilled and sought-after editors.
