Sustainability | Life At Sky
From the smallest detail to the biggest event, at Sky we recognise the impact of our actions.
As one of Europe’s leading media and entertainment companies, we’re committed to working with our partners, suppliers and production companies to reduce emissions across our value chain and promote system-wide change to protect the planet.
This has been possible through a series of operational improvements at our facilities, including increased biodiversity, renewable energy generation (solar panels and wind turbine), zero waste to landfill system, LED lights & sensors in all offices, equipment power down & rechargeable battery policies, elimination of single-use plastic, ethical make-up, wardrobe & scenery policies, toilets flushed by rainwater, and vegan & vegetarian options in our many restaurants.
At Sky we have a science-based target to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2018 base year. We purchase and match 100% renewable electricity and we have been carbon neutral for our direct business since 2006. As a signatory of the Climate Content Pledge, we have developed the Planet Test, encouraging programme makers to actively consider the environment and champion sustainability We’re also a signatory of the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action framework.
We are always working with our Production partners both within the Sky group and externally to reduce the impact of their productions, coming up with remote solutions and new workflows.
