Behind the Action: Inside Sky Sports Studios & Technology
At Sky Sports, bringing live sport to life takes more than just cameras and commentary. It takes a team built on precision, collaboration, and a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver under pressure. That’s where we come in.
Sky Sports Studios & Technology is the engine room behind the live output you see on screen. From football to Formula 1, cricket to netball, our department is involved in delivering some of the biggest moments in sport — across studio presentation, field operations, and host broadcasting. We support a huge range of productions, both in our studios and on location, covering sports like rugby, golf, tennis and more.
We’re also proud to operate out of one of the largest remote production facilities in Europe. It’s a space purpose-built for the demands of modern broadcasting — allowing us to connect seamlessly to events happening across the UK and around the world, while maintaining editorial and technical control from our home base.
In my role as Director of Studios and Technology, I’m fortunate to lead a passionate, multi-disciplinary team. Every day, we bring together studio crews, technical operators, field teams, subject matter experts, and project leads — all working with a shared purpose: to make sure every show goes out to the highest standard, and often under real-time pressure.
We’re also embracing new ways of working. Software-based production tools are becoming a bigger part of how we operate — enabling greater flexibility, remote workflows, and new creative possibilities. But no matter how the tech evolves, it's the strong operational backbone of our team that ensures we deliver, day in and day out.
What I value most is how integrated and collaborative our culture is. Everyone understands that success depends on trust and clear communication, and that no role is more important than another. We don’t just react to the live environment — we thrive in it, learning and evolving with every production.
Sky Sports Studios & Technology might not always be visible to the audience, but we’re proud of the role we play in making live sport happen. It’s a team effort in the truest sense — one built on experience, innovation, and a shared love for what we do.
